Therapy Session Take #1

WHO: Mari and you (OTA, characters are free to interact with others as well)
WHAT: Mari is hosting a therapy session! Come if you would like, or if you want to argue against it feel free to show up as well! This is more informal than it seems although she did invite some guest speakers.
WHERE: One of the large buildings that was most likely a common area for everyone, or just a super large bedroom.
WHEN: After First Crossing

A message goes out on the server from Mari: Sorry for the delay everyone! I thought it best to wait a bit till after the meeting Kel thoughtfully put together for all of us! If you would like to come for the Therapy Session, please come to building X. If you would like to bring anyone or anything along please do! Special guest speakers/appearances include Makoto Naegi, Daniil Dankovsky, and Soo Won.

Mari put her tablet down and went back to straightening the chairs she was able to gather in a circle. Surely this would be welcoming? This way they could all see each other and seek comfort if needed... but just in case, she had set up private areas using curtains as a makeshift divider in case others felt the need for a one on one talk...

It still felt strange to her to not have refreshments so she had cups filled with water just in case, surely even if they didn't need to drink it still helped to make the session feel welcoming?

As people filtered in she would call out a greeting. "Welcome and thank you for coming! If you feel comfortable taking a seat please do so! There are also refreshments over there."

Nagito is here because he was asked to be. And because Makoto is speaking. And maybe a little bit out of curiosity when it comes to what other people might say. But he doesn't really have plans to participate, exactly. The water refreshment table is noted with some amusement--it's too bad they don't have any food here, even if they don't really need it anymore--but he ignores the circle of chairs in favor of sticking near the walls. He picks a place nearish to Sunny where he still thinks he can best watch Makoto speak. Nagito leans up against the wall, much as he did during the last information-sharing meeting.

Of course, being here also means he'll have to listen to the other guest speakers, and he's not thrilled about some of them... But anything is worth it to hear anything Makoto might have to say.

“Ah! Shounen~!” Hanako definitely perks up when he notices Nagito by the wall. The other’s presence instantly means this meeting should be more interesting! “What does everyone seem to have against chairs~?”

Never mind the fact that Hanako himself clearly isn’t sitting in one either.

"Oh, I don't have anything against them, but they should probably be saved for the people who are most interested in therapy, don't you think?" And that's certainly not Nagito. "Someone like me is more suited to an out of the way location anyway."

“Good point~!” About whether Nagito was better off to the sidelines or the remark about the chairs? He didn’t clarify. Simply smiled again, leaning against the wall - though not with his entire weight, he seemed to still think he might phase right through the structure even now. “Though…” His amber gaze swept over the chairs. “If that’s the case, it doesn’t seem like many are going to be participating.”

Sure, more could show up later - it wasn’t like everyone Hanako had encountered was here. But a large majority weren’t using the chairs, and by Nagito’s logic, that meant there wasn’t a lot of interest in the ‘therapy’ portion itself.

"It's understandable. Even those of us who have been here the longest have only been here for a few months. And we've only had one traumatic bonding experience together! As a group, we're mostly acquaintances."

Nagito says that so cheerfully it renders it difficult to tell if he means that sincerely or if he's joking about it.

“Some might consider you fortunate then!” Or maybe the opposite, it really depended on viewpoint. Only one traumatic bonding experience over a few months - having your time be that free really was a rarity in Hanako’s world.

“Some acquaintances and some closer than that.” It did seem like little groups were being formed already. Ah, this place really was like a school in some ways.

"Oh, of course. That always happens when a group of people is forced together," Nagito says--thinking similarly of school, though he's pretty sure it applies under most circumstances. "And some people already knew each other before all this. But I think that it's very hopeful that even in death people can make new connections!"

And here Nagito is standing against the wall on his own, except for when someone has something to say to him, or he has something to say to someone else. That's what he's used to, what he expects, what he deserves.

Eventually, when Sunny feels like he can get away from attendance duty, he makes his way over to Nagito. A bit shy, as always, though his gaze seems to light up.

“Makoto… is going… to speak…” There is less of a gap between each sentence fragment, like he’s in a hurry to get the words out and trying to not stumble over them. Sunny is excited for the other, but also nervous. Was Makoto nervous? Sunny would be.

"He is!" Nagito enthuses, looking thrilled just at the reminder alone. "I've never gotten to see him talk about something like this in person before! Of course, a screen hardly dims his hope, but I can't help but be excited! Make sure you pay really close attention to what he says, okay?"

[Sunny’s answering nod was almost enthusiastic, that extra energy from excitement placed into the motion.

Where other people might have gotten tired of Nagito’s enthusing statements towards Makoto, Sunny found it refreshing. It meant that he never had to worry about running out of something to talk with the other about. Even if it was just focused on Makoto… Sunny didn’t mind. Makoto was kind and brave and selfless. A lot of the things that Sunny found lacking in himself.

So, it was only natural that people would be excited to hear him speak. It was his ‘hope’ - as Nagito put it.]

Will…! Taking… notes… [That much was true. These notes would be shared with everyone (because Sunny’s notebook didn’t really have a ‘privacy’ setting), so no one would be able to forget what was said here.]

[Is it unethical to take notes at a therapy session when you aren't a therapist? Possibly, but Nagito doesn't care about that. To the contrary, his eyes light up even more.] Make sure you take a lot of notes when Naegi-sama talks, okay? I'd love to review them later! It's too bad we don't have any video cameras here, or at least a real cell phone, but I'm sure you'll do a good job!

[Probably unethical. Sunny doesn’t seem to think about it too hard either - Mari hadn’t really set up HIPA forms for people to sign for privacy either not like the ones he had years ago.

Instead, Nagito’s praise and excitement have Sunny even more determined to write down what Makoto says Sorry Makoto.]

Lots… of notes…! [The teen agrees with a nod. Nagito’s words have another plot bunny forming in Sunny’s head Why did it have to be a bunny? Wait, focus!… maybe the Ferryman would be able to find a recording device! It would be too late for this meeting, but if Makoto was as great a speaker as Nagito said, then everyone would want to hear him speak all the time! Which meant more speeches!]

[Is this the kind of situation where you'd pat somebody on the head? Maybe Sunny is a little old for that, though, plus he's pretty jumpy. Anyway, nobody would want that kind of thing from Nagito. He lets the thought pass without acting on it.] I'm going to ask Ferryman-san for a notebook later, I think. I might copy down your notes on Naegi-sama's speech later, for personal reference.

[Mari asked, walking in Nagito's general direction. She wasn't overly surprised that he wasn't sitting. It seemed like most people were more comfortable with standing, and that was fine by her standards. After all, the more comfortable people were, the better. She notes him looking at the refreshments table.]

It's a shame but I have yet to be able to find any ingredients or food here... not that we necessarily need it...

[By the time Mari reaches him, Nagito is standing up straight, like he expects his posture to be in question. Bringing up the speakers relaxes him, though.] Ah, of course, I can't wait to hear Naegi-sama speak. He was a very good choice of speaker! If you want food, maybe you could try asking Ferryman-san, but I don't know if anyone has tried it yet, so I don't know if you'll get what you want.

Ah that's a good idea! Maybe I'll go see if they can point me in the right direction!

[She clasped her hands together and looked at those gathered so far.]

I am excited to see what the guest speakers put together... and how everyone reacts to it.

It will be very exciting to see how everyone reacts to Naegi-sama! [His general delight for all things Makoto is good at keeping him, if not exactly relaxed, then not looking like he's standing for inspection. All other potential speakers are irrelevant right now.]

Have you heard Makoto talk before this?

[Nagito's delight at Makoto being a guest speaker must mean that he knew a bit of what Makoto had gone through. While she hadn't asked the other man for details before, it was clear that since he had mentioned going through therapy that something bad had happened to him before here.]

Not in person, just on television. Of course, it was wonderful that way, but it must be even better to actually be there in the room with him, you know? [He's practically vibrating in place.]

"Ah! Komaeda-senpai! You're here too?"

Yashiro instantly noticed the man, going over to start a conversation. She was still embarrassed by the whole hamster incident... but she never let her embarrassment stop her before! She had been rather hesitant about coming, after all she wasn't quite sure she needed therapy (and none of the stuff from her life she felt comfortable talking about with strangers yet and she was pretty sure that's not what this session was about...) but clearly if Komaeda was here then it was the right place to be!

"Hello, Yashrio-san," Nagito says, waving. Everyone here is too friendly for their own good; they keep waving at him and greeting him and talking to him... "Naegi-sama is going to speak, so it would be inconceivable for me not to be here. Have you met him yet?"

“Naegi…?”Yashiro thought the last name and took a few seconds to think over who she had met.

“Oh! He helped while I was stuck in a sandstorm! Although I haven’t actually met him in person…”

She gave Komaeda-senpai a sheepish look. She probably should have tried to thank him in person… although she didn’t have any vegetables here to give him…

“Is he a friend of yours, senpai?”

"Calling him my friend would be presumptuous of me..." Nagito says with a little embarrassed smile. Of course, Makoto keeps insisting on calling himself Nagito's friend, but that's because Makoto is supremely kind and hopeful at all times. "But we knew each other when we were alive. He's very talented and helpful, so it's a guarantee he'll be the best speaker here!"

“How did you two meet? Did you go to the same school?”

Yashiro figured that that’s how most people met, at least when they were around her age. After all that’s how she met Hanako-kun. She nodded, mostly cause she agreed with Nagito’s statement. Of course he would be a good speaker since he was invited to give a statement here…

"He was my underclassman, though we didn't interact too much while we were both in school." Nagito had been more preoccupied with supporting his talented classmates, and then things got complicated. "He was very kind even then, though! Even before anybody knew he was Super High School Level Hope, people flocked to him!"
