Move along, move along just to make it through
WHO: Makoto, OTA
WHAT: THE BOY IS BACK! And is feeling super confused and guilty.
WHERE: The Village in the Marsh.
WHEN: Sometime before the sleepover
WARNINGS Guilt, bad memories, attempted abduction
Hope of Morning
[Waving goodbye to the Ferryman before entering the village, Makoto's small and tired smile falls as he looks around at the huts. He tried to not show it to the Ferryman but he feels awful for getting lost and leaving the group. After all, he had chewed out Nagito for doing so and he hadn't been lost for as long as Makoto was! How did he even get lost so thoroughly?! He swears he just went out for a quick look!
Sighing to himself, he shakes his head before moving deeper into the village, looking around for anyone he knows. As he looks, he calls in a small and hesitant voice to anyone who might hear him.]
Komeda-kun? Frieda-san? Anyone here? It's me. I-I'm back.
[Oh he hopes the others have been okay without him. He hopes they didn't worry too much about him. Especially Nagito and Sunny. He had promised them that he'd never leave them. Another promise broken Makoto. He shakes off that whisper that threatens to drown him in memories as he waits for a response.]
100 bad days
[Makoto opens his eyes groggily as he feels the ground sway, grumpily grumbling to himself about what has woken him. He was having a good rest unlike usual! No nightmares or anything! Tempted to forget about it, he closes his eyes again when the ground moved again. What is it this time? Forcing himself up, he looks around the hut and sleepily watches as the shadows on the wall continue swaying. Why was it swaying?
Turning to look out the door, his eyes widens as he sees the outside slowly move past the door. What?! Now wide awake, he scrambles to get to his feet as he feels the sways increase in length and speed. Rushing to the door, he looks outside and gasps when he sees the village slowly getting farther away from him.]
What the?! H-Help!
Aftermath
[After his rather stressful wake up call, Makoto can be found looking at the small huttlets fondly if exasperatedly as he watches them play together. Chuckling when he sees two roughhouse and then squabble amongst themselves, he hums in amusement as he hears someone approach him.]
They're much cuter when they're not trying to abduct me.

100
A white dove perched on a roof turns to look critically in his direction, then shakes out its wings and starts to follow. It is, in fact, a frankly enormous creature that could stand about half as tall as a human and has a wingspan in the vicinity of eight feet. And is headed... right at him...]
Make way!
[did I mention he sounds almost exactly like a teenaged (human) boy with a fairly deep voice? If Makoto backs up out of the doorway in time, Sakuya will fold his wings in time to land there, otherwise he'll beat his wings furiously to veer off and have to circle back. The walking hut absolutely senses his approach and swivels.]
I don't think he did so he's so not prepared for a giant dove to come after him LOL!
What the-?!
[When he sees it prepare to land, he quickly dives into the building and grabs the doorway just as the hut swivels. The sudden movement nearly makes him lose his grip and he feels his stomach roll violently.]
...Ugh...
[Now there are giant doves chasing after him?!]
no subject
Hrmph. That was uncalled for, you wretched construct!
[he stamps a foot on the floor, noisily.]
What a ridiculous situation to be in...
no subject
Um...Hello? ...Are you-WOAH!
[The hut swivels again, trying to shake off it's unwanted passenger and Makoto falls into Sakuya's plumage with a yelp. Gripping onto Sakuya's feathers tightly, he prays he hasn't pulled any feathers out. He didn't need an angry giant bird against him too.]
no subject
[the hut doesn't appreciate Sakuya being here insulting (does it understand it's insulted?) and scratching at it! He's not as cute as a human, it's not gonna put up with that! He makes an outraged coo-grunt sound when Makoto knocks into him, the first obviously birdlike noise he's made.]
The nerve!
[flapflap flap poor Makoto might get slapped a couple times in the process as Sakuya gets himself up onto the unmade bed, wings half open for balance.]
-it's warm, that is disgusting.
no subject
Wincing, he opens his eyes to look around once the flapping of wings stops. Hesitantly looking around, he sees the giant dove on the bed he had rested on. Still dazed, he registers the birds words and blinks in confusion.]
...A warm bed is disgusting?
[Is that something that pidgeons do not like or something? Or is this bird a completely different kind of species not from any world he'd know?]
no subject
He shakes himself off, feathers fluffing pinecone-like and sending some bits of down into the air before he starts laying flat again.]
It is warm from your body. Do you really not comprehend how - rrrgh, this is nonsense. [He stands straighter, prouder, some aspect of his neck and body seeming to inflate.]
You! It's ridiculous, but some of these houses have legs and wander off! Flightless creature that you are, you'll have to check each time!
Sorry I'm late. Dealing with issues
Rubbing the back of this head, he kept his head down as he mumbled in embarrassment.]
...I didn't know.
[He had just returned recently. How was he supposed to know that hutts now move here?!]
<3
Hence why I'm telling you, so you may understand what has happened and learn from it. This absurd hodgepodge will make a circuit and perhaps settle elsewhere for a period, but each of them returns to the village, having wasted everyone's time!
[As a bird his 'facial expressions' are very subtle and obscure by human standards, all in feather positions and how he holds his head, but his voice does suggest a lofty glare.]
As you are Japanese, my name would be ordered Shirogane Le Bel Sakuya. [wait he could have left out 'le Bel' - too late now.] You will address me as Shirogane-san!
[He's French-Japanese and raised in France but is fluent and has just a trace of accent, so even though there's universal translation he's switched over to it. Sakuya accepted some of his classmates using his name without a suffix and other people at his school using -kun but Makoto is not involved in St. Pigeonations.]
Re: <3
...I see. Then, Shirogane-san...
[He hesitates for a moment before asking.]
How are we going to get off? Should we wait for the hutt to return to the village?
[He doesn't like the idea but if there is no danger to it, he can wait.]
...If so, could you please send a message to the others that I'm fine? I don't want Sunny-kun and Komaeda-kun to worry.
[Especially after just getting him back.]
no subject
Certainly waiting is a possibility for you, given you are only human. I, on the other hand, can fly. Be honored I haven't already and, in fact, may have an alternative. [I just don't want this comment to be too long, so he doesn't say it immediately. Sakuya opens his wings slightly just to refold them, his head high.]
As for messages, you do have either a linked book or a phone of some sort, are you not? Assuming you are literate that's something you can take care of yourself.
hope of morning
Naegi-sama!
[Makoto is here. Makoto is back. He was patient and he waited and Makoto came back.]
Re: hope of morning
Komaeda-kun...
[His relieved whisper is quickly overshadowed by his overwhelming joy, as he soon finds himself waving and running towards Nagito as he grins happily.]
Komeada-kun!
no subject
no subject
Komaeda-kun...I'm okay.
[Makoto gently rubbed Nagito's back as he talks, taking in everything as he soothes his friend and himself. I'm back.]
I mostly just slept. I don't remember much until the Ferryman found me. I do remember hearing voices though. They kept trying to call to me.
no subject
Were you that tired? [More likely it was something supernatural, of course.] Did you recognize the voices?
no subject
I suppose so. I just remember wandering the desert for a while then...dozing? It's a bit hard to describe. I drifted for a while and heard those voices. I didn't recognize them but they seemed to be wanting me to respond. Then I woke up in the Marsh. Floating on the river. Then I saw Ferryman-san. They brought me here and then I found you.
[Makoto reluctantly pulls away from Nagito's shoulder but not far away from his arms. Makoto looks at Nagito, doing his own quick once over to see if his friend was okay.]
I'm so glad I found you again, Komaeda-kun. And I'm sorry. I'm so sorry Komaeda-kun. I didn't mean to leave you for so long. I hope my disappearance wasn't too hard on you.
no subject
It wasn't hard on me! Nothing you do could be an inconvenience to me! [This is a lie, but it's how Nagito thinks he should feel, so he doesn't think it counts as one.] Besides, it wasn't as if you intended to get lost.
aftermath
[Need was passing by carrying a big half-rotted chunk of wood, but pauses, looking Makoto over frankly.]
You got got, huh?
no subject
Almost. Luckily I was saved by Shirogane-san before the hutt could take me too far from the village.
[Thank goodness for giant doves. Even arrogant ones.]
no subject
The bird? I'm glad he deigned to be useful.
[Need and Sakuya have met and been mutually unimpressed, though Sakuya's not really socially adept enough to have realized she's gotten a fairly accurate read on him. It's just more negative because she doesn't like overconfidence.
She is examining Makoto with interest, and then puts down her chunk of wood.]
I know I've seen you around, but we haven't spoken much. You should call me Need.
no subject
He was very useful. If startling. I'm not used to giant doves reprimanding me.
[He beams at Need's introduction and bows slightly with his head.]
It's wonderful to meet you in person, Need-san! We've talked on the notebook, right?
no subject
[She says that less sternly and more in a weary, resigned manner. Need can't bring herself to care passionately about that, it's just annoying.]
Briefly. You were... what's your name again?
[she's not good with names.]
Hope of Morning (CW: implied hallucination)
Well, he thought it was a hallucination at first.
After all, the owner of the voice had been missing for so long, and the mist liked to play tricks on people…
But then it rings out again. And again. And again - little hesitant calls for people familiar to them both, which has Sunny closing his book and heading for the doorway.
His head pops out of the entryway door just as Makoto seems to walk by.]
…
[Sunny stares, one eye blinking in almost disbelief (the other is covered by a white cloth - one of the ripped edges of an extra bedsheet, as the orange scrap of Kel’s shirt is drying). Then…]
…! [That’s actually Makoto, right?!]
Re: Hope of Morning (CW: implied hallucination)
Ferryman-san is here so the others have to be here, right? Maybe they went exploring?
[Maybe I should go looking for them? ...No, I'll just try again. Nodding to himself in determination, he calls out again.]
Komaeda-kun! Frieda-san! Anyon-!
[Just then, he sees a head pop out of the hutt near him. Jumping from nerves, he lets out a small gasp when he recognizes the face. It is Sunny! His eye is covered with a different cloth this time but there is no mistaking that expression.]
S-Sunny-kun!
[Feeling like a weight had lifted, he lets out a small huff of a laugh before grinning widely at the teenager.]
no subject
…Which meant he took two steps out of the hut and grabbed for Makoto’s sleeve. Real.
That solidified it for him, his eye widening again and something like relief running through him.]
You’re… back…!
[His speech is breathy with excitement, and he looks around like he’s looking for someone - probably Nagito, he would be so relieved! - before remembering that everyone else was out…] Others… exploring…
100 Bad Days
Ah, don’t worry about it! It’s just going for a stroll~
[The hut. Going for a stroll. Totally normal according to the ghost boy. He’d been searching for supplies and had heard the other teen enter, fall asleep, and… hadn’t said anything. Oh well!]
