A Most Important Inquiry

WHO: Sunny, Soo Won, and YOU! (OTA)
WHAT: Soo Won doesn’t know what a battery is. Sunny tried, but he needs some help. That’s where you come in!
WHERE: Network (let’s be honest though - Sunny doesn’t leave the Oasis)
WHEN: post-Crossing Meeting, pre-Quests kicking off
WARNINGS Talk of batteries, electricity, relevant CWs (if any) will be in subject headings ^^

## The Crossing Meeting had barely ended when a message crossed everyone’s devices.

Sunny had gotten himself into a bit of a quandary and… he needed help. He hated asking for help, but this was important. Possible the most importantthing he had asked so far.

A single message cuts across the screen/notebook page (take your pick):

What’s a battery? Help. ##

[This kind of communication was new to Soo Won as well. He didn't want to interrupt Celehar and Need so he simply quietly listened. Need's pause was curious but it wasn't his place to pry. He waited until there was a decent lull in the conversation before joining in the thank the others.]

I see. I'm aware of magic, although it was rare in my world. Thank you for indulging my curiosity.

On another note, a sling is a good idea. They're easy to make should we need a way to defend ourselves, and they're useful for distractions as well. Perhaps we should teach the others.

I can claim no proficiency in either, and my particular Calling is ironically unhelpful here - but the effort cannot hurt.

I only know of magic. I have no desire to have any myself even if it were possible, but it is still quite fascinating.

I suspect many of us feel a similar sense of helplessness in that regard.

[Soo Won could sympathize. It must be especially difficult for someone with a connection to death like Celehar. Soo Won's own calling had no meaning here either. He fulfilled his role when he died. Now he was a fallen king without a kingdom to protect.]

Idleness, with no purpose but such an intangible goal, is troubling, though I doubt a weapon, sword or maz, could change that.

And ammunition is everywhere. Though sometimes you just can't find the right size stone. It does take a while to learn.

[at least, here it will. Before her second death Need could accelerate the process considerably.]

So you know the shepherd's weapon?

I'm more skilled with other weapons but yes.

[Learning how to fashion a weapon in an emergency was a useful skill to have, but Soo Won was still a noble with easy access to other weapons, like swords and bows, so the sling was more of a practical skill then his weapon of choice.]
