Therapy Session Take #1

WHO: Mari and you (OTA, characters are free to interact with others as well)
WHAT: Mari is hosting a therapy session! Come if you would like, or if you want to argue against it feel free to show up as well! This is more informal than it seems although she did invite some guest speakers.
WHERE: One of the large buildings that was most likely a common area for everyone, or just a super large bedroom.
WHEN: After First Crossing
WARNINGS Talk about death and violence, specific CWs will be in the text.

A message goes out on the server from Mari: Sorry for the delay everyone! I thought it best to wait a bit till after the meeting Kel thoughtfully put together for all of us! If you would like to come for the Therapy Session, please come to building X. If you would like to bring anyone or anything along please do! Special guest speakers/appearances include Makoto Naegi, Daniil Dankovsky, and Soo Won.

Mari put her tablet down and went back to straightening the chairs she was able to gather in a circle. Surely this would be welcoming? This way they could all see each other and seek comfort if needed... but just in case, she had set up private areas using curtains as a makeshift divider in case others felt the need for a one on one talk...

It still felt strange to her to not have refreshments so she had cups filled with water just in case, surely even if they didn't need to drink it still helped to make the session feel welcoming?

As people filtered in she would call out a greeting. "Welcome and thank you for coming! If you feel comfortable taking a seat please do so! There are also refreshments over there."

Allynbee arrives punctually and gives the girl running the meeting a quick, nodded greeting before taking a spot on the wall. She's not quite hovering by the 'refreshments', mostly keeping an eye on who's filtering into the therapy meeting.

When approached, she simply nods her head towards the circle of chairs. "Just want to keep an eye on things."

“Serious as always, aren’t you Captain~?” That question, by way of a greeting. The position she picked up was also prime for ‘keeping an eye’ on everything. Allynbee really can’t get a break even in death, can she?

Allynbee doesn't know how to take breaks. Her life had stopping catastrophe after castastrope, topped by doing the impossible five or six times. There was shore leave, but there was no way they were catching that kind of break here.

"Always with a joke, right, Hanako?" Her voice kept its professional tenor, but she can't help but tease him in kind. Let the kids have their fun while they can.

"This doesn't seem like your kind of meeting. What gives?"

“Ehehe~ When it fits the mood, sure!” He’s certainly not denying it!

His smile turns a bit less enthusiastic as he answers, more… observant. “Hmm… A lot can be learned from something like this. Not just what I missed the first time, not just what I need to keep an eye out for but…” Who might be malleable in his plans, is the unspoken. What he does say is- “And I need to make sure Yashiro isn’t going to go skirt-chasing or anything~!”

She doesn't miss the change in his demeanor, nor the way he cuts himself off - but it's not really her expertise to do more than listen, and Hanako doesn't seem ready to reveal the rest of his thoughts. At least, not yet.

So she meets him where he is and arches a brow at the mention of his friend's...interests.

"I don't think there's going to be much opportunity for that."

“Clearly you haven’t met Yashiro then! My assistant can have her head in the clouds, caught in her fantasies, during most dangerous situations. It’s how she ends up in trouble so often~!”

There’s something fond about the way he says it. “-And then that means I have to get her out of trouble again!”

"Well, it seems like the only real trouble so far is the Crossing."

She wonders to herself about the nature of their relationship (and the nature of this girl) if Hanako is saying she gets in trouble a lot.

"How long have you two been friends?"

“The less dangers we have to worry about, the better.” He could at least admit that.

Her question has him pausing. Blinking, as he thought, almost like the word ‘friend’ had ground his mind to a halt. Yashiro had called him ‘friend’ many times but…

“A few months? I met her near the beginning of the semester, and it was summer when…” He paused, like trying to verify that. When he had died a second time and been sent here. But… “Yashiro apparently came from before that moment though so… a few months sounds about right.”

Strange, that he was so attached to her despite the short time…

She doesn't miss the mental stutter and waits patiently as he begins his explanation. The amount of time he admits feels short though his wording makes her pause. The commander assumed they'd all come from different worlds, but the idea of coming from different points of time from the same world...

"What do you mean 'before that moment'?"

“Just that - apparently Yashiro arrived here at a point that I remember happening earlier. So, in a way, we’re out of sync. I have more memories than her, but that isn’t an accident.” He thinks, wondering now though the truth of that. It wasn’t simply that Yashiro had lost those memories; it was just that they hadn’t happened yet. “But she’s still herself, and that’s what matters to me.”

[Mari wanders over to greet the woman, extending a hand.]

Thanks for coming! I don't believe we've met. I'm Mari, Sunny's older sister.

[It seemed if she introduced herself in this way, that most people knew her brother before they knew her, that there was some connection.]

[Allynbee shakes the girl's hand, firm and a little on the professional side.]

Commander Shepard. I spoke with him on the network. He's a good kid.

[Things like that can be important to older siblings, and she seems invested if the introduction is any indication.]

What gave you the idea to put all of this together?

[Mari thought for a moment as she shook the woman's hand.]

I guess... I just wanted people to know they weren't alone... everyone here has gone through a lot, and not just the things that have happened to us so far here, but even before...

That's kind of you.

[Despite her formal tone, she means it sincerely. The world could always use more compassionate people, and, given their circumstances, empathetic folks would be sorely needed.]

Anyone you think might need a little extra support? I'm always happy to talk with people.

[Mari smiles brightly at the woman.]

Thank you!

[Her gaze wanders around the room before settling on two people specifically.]

Perhaps Nagito?

[She had the feeling that the boy wouldn't appreciate the gesture of her suggesting he needed support, but she felt like he could use a confidence boost.]

And my brother, Sunny.

[Allynbee decides that she likes Mari. She seems like a nice girl; the concern for Nagito is sweet. Finding out that she's Sunny's sister fits right along with what the commander knows of him.]

[Mari gives the woman another smile.]

[She was sure that Allynbee also had things that kept her up at night. They all had struggles after all...]

Yashiro had yet to meet this woman, but that didn't stop her from heading over towards the refreshments table and grabbing a drink.

"You think there's going to be trouble? Here?" She asked and glanced around curiously. She hadn't been here for long but it seemed as if everyone got along rather well from what she could see...

Allynbee shakes her head, doing her best to give a comforting smile.

"I don't think anyone here is going to be a problem. I just want to make sure everything stays calm."

She extends a hand for a handshake. "Commander Shepard. I don't think we've met."

“Ah! That makes sense.”

People did have varying opinions on things, and this would probably be no different. It was reassuring to know though that someone was willing to patrol just in case.

Yashiro politely shook the woman’s hand and offered her own introduction.

“It’s nice to meet you Commander! My name is Nene Yashiro. Have you been here long?”

Yashiro didn’t exactly feel comfortable asking if she had been dead for a while, the concept was still strange to her after all, but maybe she had been in the desert for a bit?

"Nice to meet you, Yashiro."

With some of the more interesting personalities involved with the group, Allynbee was happy to talk to someone who wasn't blatantly operating with an agenda. Still didn't like how many of the folks here were kids.

"I was with the group before we reached this desert."

Ah! So you came from somewhere before here?

[Yashiro didn't want to think that meant that the woman had been dead before her... the rules of death were confusing and something she couldn't quite wrap her head around.]

Was it... hard? Getting from one place to another?

I exited the river in the Cavern, like a few other folks.

[Death was definitely confusing, and Shepard felt a bit saddened that there were so many kids having to navigate it.]

I had help, which I'm not sure I'm going to have this time around.
