[Was… was Sunny sure this wasn’t a dream? Was he really dead? Because most dreams consisted of him teaming up with his friends in a party and going exploring…
Not that he could call Makoto a friend yet. They had just met, but the similarities were almost frightening. Including the scary creatures still floating behind them.
He would just have to trust that Makoto knew what he was doing.
As Sunny became the leader and continued further into the cavern, several things became clear: this was as much a mapping expedition as it was a ‘search for the key’ quest. Every so often, Sunny would pull out his notepad, drawing markings that look reminiscent of a RPG-video game sprite map. Was it accurate? Who knows? But it helped Sunny keep things straight in his mind (it was how he had known to head down the corridor where he had encountered Makoto - a verifiable map in his head). Also noticeable was the fact that Sunny wasn’t much of a talker - he would give non-verbal responses to anything Makoto wanted to talk about (shakes of the head, nods, a shrug) but otherwise remained mostly silent.
As they came to a dead end, however, Sunny froze. Marking it down, yes, but his gaze traveled back to Makoto and, subsequently, the wraiths that floated behind them. An almost guilty expression on his face. They hadn’t found anything, not yet, and now… how were they supposed to get out? Would the wraiths just… let them through?]
