urtitan: (Apprehensive)

I did..?

[She remembers, of course, that she and Need spoke during that first Crossing. The first half of their conversation, about Need's toll memory, is still clear in her mind, but the second half about her own is as fragmented as could be expected. She only remembers the bits and pieces that don't pertain to the memory she gave up - but that includes her telling Need about the curse of the titans, and while the older woman was more interested in the succession than in the nature of the curse itself, the need for the Walls arguably implied the titans' enormous size. Nevertheless, she feels compelled to elaborate.]

I told you about the titans... I remember that. When the Founding Titan held by my bloodline is passed on, that is how it happens. The successor turns into a pure - mindless - titan and devours the holder of the Founding Titan.

[She hesitates, almost afraid to ask for confirmation if that's indeed what happened to her. Did she have a fatal accident that required an immediate transfer of the Founder..? No, the titan curse comes with supernatural healing powers. That couldn't have been it. Even a sickness could have been cured by a change made to her biological constitution, such is the Founder's power. So why?

Certainly, none of her siblings would have usurped her. That's unimaginable. That increasingly narrows it down to usurpation by an outside party... but how could that be? For titans to make it not only across Wall Maria, but also Wall Rose and Wall Sina, that's impossible - unless it was a targeted, coordinated attack, and that would mean that her worst nightmare came true: An attack by the outside world, the Eldians' judgement day.]
