I assume you asked the Ferryman what became of the lantern group and didn't get a comprehensive answer? Regardless, if the items left behind by them are the only ones we can take with us through the Crossing, that's... very odd. If they were still around, we'd have met them in the cavern, wouldn't we? Or do you presume that they made it through multiple Crossings, but got held up somewhere ahead of us?

[Why would such a thing happen, though? If there were an obstacle to their journey, or if they were set to meet up with the other group, surely the Ferryman would have informed them?]
